Parks Updates And Alerts (QLD)

Changes to conditions in Queensland's national parks, marine parks and forests.
  1. Wongai Camping Area (Beach Camp Zone 1) Closure

    Due to due to back-burning activities in the Eurong area, Wongai camping area (Zone 1) will be closed between 18 September 2017 and 2 October 2017 (Govi remains open). Affected parks: Fraser Island, Great Sandy National Park.

  2. Walking Track Closures - Telegraph Track, Mount Tempest Track and Rous Battery Track

    Due to the current Very High Fire Risk the Telegraph, Mount Tempest and Rous Battery walking tracks are closed for public safety. Closures will be in place from 0001hrs Friday 22nd September to 2359hrs on Monday 2nd October. Your co-operation is appreciated. To report any wildfires call 000. Notify QPWS of any breaches in QPWS protected areas by calling 13 QGOV (13 74 68). Affected parks: Moreton Island National Park and Recreation Area.

  3. Temporary Closure Conway Circuit, including Kingfisher and Wompoo Trails

    The Conway Circuit, including Kingfisher and Wompoo Trails, within Conway National Park will be temporarily closed Sunday 24 September 2017 for the Run the Great Whitsunday Trail Event. The Circuit and Trails will reopen at 4.00pm after the Event. Affected parks: Conway circuit; Conway National Park.

  4. High Fire Danger Dalrymple, Moorrinya and Blackwood National Parks

    Due to the Very High Fire Danger Area Rating Forecast issued by the Bureau of Meteorology, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service advise there is a total ban on fires in all areas of Dalrymple National Park, Moorrinya National Park and Blackwood National Park, specifically in the camping nodes and day use areas. Only gas and enclosed fuel stoves are to be used. Please observe all signage and directions by QPWS staff. Your safety is our concern but your responsibility. Affected parks: Blackwood National Park; Dalrymple National Park; Moorrinya National Park.

  5. Feral animal control in Townsville Town Common Conservation Park

    A 1080 baiting program targeting feral pigs within the Townsville Town Common Conservation Park will occur from Tuesday 26th September until Monday 30th October 2017. The baiting program will be conducted at locations where high pig activity is occurring away from visitor areas. Signs will be placed at all entry and exit gates for the Park, and will remain in place for the duration of the feral animal control program and two weeks after its conclusion. The Park will remain open to the public, and visitors are requested to observe all temporary access closures during the baiting program. Affected parks: Townsville Town Common Conservation Park.

  6. Feral animal control in Bowling Green Bay National Park

    A 1080 baiting program targeting feral pigs within the Bowling Green Bay National Park will occur from Tuesday 26th September until Monday 30th October 2017. The baiting program will be conducted at locations where high pig activity is occurring away from visitor areas. Signs will be placed at all entry and exit gates for the Park, and will remain in place for the duration of the feral animal control program and two weeks after its conclusion. The Park will remain open to the public, and visitors are requested to observe all temporary access closures during the baiting program. Affected parks: Bowling Green Bay National Park.

  7. WILDFIRE - Mount Barney National Park closed

    Due to an ongoing wildfire within the park, Mount Barney National Park is closed until further notice. This closure includes Mt Maroon and Mt May. Affected parks: Mount Barney National Park.

  8. Temporary closure: Bora Ground toilet block, Goldsborough Valley camping area, Wooroonooran National Park

    The Bora Ground toilet block will be closed for floor painting from the morning of Thursday 21 September and may re-open the same day depending on drying time. Affected parks: Goldsborough Valley, Wooroonooran National Park; Wooroonooran National Park.

  9. Byfield NP - Soft Sand Conditions on Coastal Access Tracks

    Due to the prolonged dry period, soft sand conditions now exist on many of the coastal sand tracks in the national park. Affected parks: Byfield National Park, Conservation Park and State Forest.

  10. Yellow Patch campground temporary closure 7 to 14 October

    Yellow Patch campground will be closed from Saturday, 7th October, 2017, until 14th October, 2017 inclusive. Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a feral animal control program on Curtis Island during this period. The feral animal control program will consist of live firing operations involving ground shooting. Affected parks: Curtis Island National Park and Conservation Park.
